Prayers are requested for three-year-old Makayla Thomas, daughter of Scott and Crystal Thomas, and granddaughter of Jerold and Mary Ann Aust, of Mobile, Alabama.

Makayla has been suffering for about a week now with various symptoms that were recently determined to indicate Kawasaki Disease, which needs to be treated within 10 days, or may result in serious heart or other problems.  She hasn’t eaten for about six days, nor will she drink anything, and was put on IV two days ago while tests were being conducted. She has also been suffering from a fever up to 105 degrees. After determining that it was most likely Kawasaki Disease, doctors wanted to immediately put her on an eight-hour drip treatment, which is what must be done within 10 days of indications of the disease (which now appear to have been almost a week ago).  However, they are unable to do so because her blood pressure is too low for the treatment.

Your prayers are requested for dear little Makayla, along with her parents and grandparents, who understandably are quite distressed through this ordeal.

PS:  Update from Dan and Cindy Harper who write this 5/16/09

We went to services in Mobile today and then visited Scott and Crystal Thomas at the children's hospital. As of today Makayla's blood pressure was stable and high enough to begin the treatment for the Kawasaki, so we are hoping and praying for good news tomorrow!
