UPDATED May 23,  2008

From Roy Demarest, pastor, Orlando/Jacksonville, FL:

David and Lynn Sandland (my sister) told me that they have been overwhelmed and astounded by the concern of the brethren around the world regarding David’s serious health problems.  David underwent surgery to remove the malignant prostate in February.  His doctor has given him 6 months to 2 years survival chances, as the cancer has metastases to 6 areas of his bone.  In spite of this, David has been able to continue serving by giving sermons in remote areas of Australia.

To the many churches and individuals who have sent cards, please know that your love, warmth and sincere prayers have touched their hearts.  My sister wrote, “all of the brethren are beautiful.  It will be a difficult road ahead, but this physical life is just that....our spiritual lives are what matters.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your care, prayers and concern.  We love you and pray that God directs your lives and blesses you.”

From Roy Demarest, pastor, Orlando/Jacksonville, FL:

David Sandland (my sister’s husband) has been recently diagnosed with malignant prostrate cancer that has spread to the bones.  He has six specific bone mastastases.  David also suffers from Multiple Myeloma, which has been in remission for some eight years. David serves as an employee of the National Office of Australia--running the Mailing Department for the last seven years. He also serves as an added speaker in many scattered areas of Australia.  As a result of his health, he is retiring from the Mailing Department at the end of February.  Your prayers for his healing would be greatly appreciated, along with your prayers for his family as they face another battle against cancer.

Dear Victor,

It is with a heavy heart I am writing to ask for prayer for my dear husband David.  Ten years ago he was diagnosed with multple myeloma, underwent a bone marrow transplant and has outlived the projections for his survivial.   With increasing pain in his bones, he sustained an injury at work that would not let up.  On exray, there seemed to be a break in one of his ribs...but blood tests showed no explosion of the multiple myeloma which has been in remission since his bone marrow transplant.  Also at this time he was experiencing trouble with going to the bathroom.

Our doctor sent him for a blood test which showed a very high PSA count.  Now, after all the test results are in, David has malignant prostrate cancer that has spread to 6 specific areas of his bones.  This now explains the pain that he has been experiencing over the last year, plus the extreme tiredness that comes with cancer.  It is difficult for us to go through all this again, but we place our lives before God.  No one or no treatments can heal him, we will do what we can to give us quality of life.  As the Apostle Paul stated...God's grace is sufficient.  Consider us in your prayers and my children who love their Dad so very much.  Our children lost a brother with Down's Syndrone and know the loss of immediate family.  Please pray that God's will...will be done within our family and our spiritual life.  Dave and I look so much forward to a time when there will be no more tears,

Thank you, Lynn Sandland
