Here is the information for your Web site for Victor Root, my brother-in-law and former WCG pastor, who died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 9 of a ruptured aorta. Obviously the family is in shock, as he was in good health and had recently had a treadmill test. Members of his family, including brother Tom Root, are traveling from Australia, Switzerland and the West Coast to Indiana for the viewing and the funeral. Continued thoughts and prayers for the family will be much appreciated, as Victor positively touched the lives of many, many people.

Thomas Victor Root

Thomas Victor Root, 62, of Bloomington Indiana, died unexpectedly Friday 9 September, 2011, after suffering a ruptured aorta while on a video shoot for a children’s museum fundraiser at the Bloomington Convention Center. The son of Charles Root, a member of the US Army in Europe during WWII, and Irene Ritter Root, he was born 9 June 1949, in Linz, Austria. Graduating from Ambassador College in Bricket Wood, England in 1973, he went on to serve as pastor for the Worldwide Church of God in Europe and America for nearly two decades, officiating at numerous weddings and church functions on both continents. He completed much of the graduate coursework at California State University, Los Angeles toward a master's degree in counseling psychology before moving to Indiana with his wife in 1999 from San Diego, California to their Bloomington home, where he also served in career counseling for Indiana University. Most recently, he was the owner of Video Solutions in Bloomington, IN.

Victor was an avid lifelong reader, stamp collector, organic gardener, and problem solver. He loved motorcycles, poetry, art, opera and rock ‘n roll. He dearly loved his family, both his wife’s and his own. Victor was known as a gentleman, a deep intellect, and a quick wit to his family, business associates, and friends. In addition to his wife, Kathy/Katie Snyder Root, he is survived by his sister Desiree Root of Switzerland and brother Thomas Gregory Root of California; his children Robert Root and fiancée Lori, and Katrina Root Madero, son-in-law Dean Madero, grandson Ethan, all of Australia; step-son Blair Jones, grandchildren Alexa and Wyatt, all of Evansville IN; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles residing in Indiana, Texas, California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New York, New Jersey and Germany, including his father-in-law, John K. Snyder.

Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, 17 September at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington, IN. 812-333-4400 Viewing will be Friday, 16 September, 4-8 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000E. Third Street, Bloomington, IN. If anyone wishes to make a donation in his memory, it may be made to The Brown County Library of Nashville, IN.
