From Dennis Luker, pastor, Seattle, WA; Alaska:

Shane Franke was operated on Wednesday afternoon May  27 at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. Kim, his wife, who is with him, was told by the doctors that the surgery on his right ear went well. They were able to clean out the infection deep in the ear, and the brain stem was not infected. They are running some tests to check for causes of the chronic and very serious infection he had and he will be in the hospital for the rest of this week, if not longer. He is experiencing quite a bit of pain so please continue to remember him in your prayers. He, his wife and children deeply appreciate your love, prayers and concern.

From Rex Sexton, pastor, Tacoma/Olympia, OR:

Shane Franke has returned home to Soldotna, Alaska, but is still in need of our prayers. According to his wife, Kim, the mastoid bone infection appears to be improved somewhat, but he has developed viral pneumonia as a result of his stay in the hospital and being in a prone position for an extended time. The doctors have been unable to identify which “superbug bacteria” he is dealing with. Shane is still in pain and has been coughing up blood. Your prayers are appreciated.
